Nowadays, PLC is not only used for switch quantity control, but also for analog quantity and digital quantity control. It can collect and store data, and can also monitor the control system. It can also be networked and communicated to achieve large-scale and cross-regional control and manage. PLC has increasingly become an important role in the family of industrial control devices. .
1 for switch control
The ability of PLC to control the switch is very strong. The number of entry and exit points controlled can be as few as a dozen or tens of points, and as many as hundreds, thousands, or even tens of thousands. Because it can be connected to the Internet, the number of points is almost unlimited and can be controlled no matter how many points are.
The controlled logic problems can be diverse: combined, sequential; immediate, delayed; do not need to count, need to count; fixed sequence, random work; etc., all can be carried out.
The hardware structure of PLC is variable, and the software program is editable, which is very flexible when used for control. When necessary, multiple sets or sets of programs can be written and called as needed. It is very suitable for the needs of multi-working conditions and multi-state transformations in the industrial field.
There are many examples of using PLC for on-off control, metallurgy, machinery, light industry, chemical industry, textiles, etc., almost all industries need to use it. At present, the goal of PLC's first use is unmatched by other controllers, that is, it can be conveniently and reliably used for the control of on-off values.
2Used for analog control
Analog quantity, such as current, voltage, temperature, pressure, etc., its size is continuously changing. Industrial production, especially continuous production processes, often need to control these physical quantities.
As an industrial control electronic device, if PLC cannot control these quantities, it is a big disadvantage. For this reason, every PLC manufacturer has carried on a large amount of development in this respect. At present, not only large and medium-sized machines can carry out analog control, but also small machines can carry out such control.
PLC carries on the analog quantity control, must dispose the analog quantity and the digital quantity mutual conversion A/D, D/A unit. It is also an I/O unit, but a special I/O unit.
The A/D unit converts the analog quantity of the external circuit into a digital quantity, and then sends it to the PLC. The D/A unit converts the digital quantity of the PLC into an analog quantity, and then sends it to the external circuit.
As a special I/O unit, it still has I/O circuit anti-interference, internal and external circuit isolation, and exchange information with input and output relays (or internal relays, which are also an area of PLC working memory. Read and write), etc. Features.
The A in A/D here is mostly current, or voltage, and sometimes temperature. The A in D/A is mostly voltage or current. The voltage and current range are mostly 0~5V, 0~10V, 4~20mA. Some can also handle positive and negative values.
Here D, minicomputers are mostly 8-bit binary numbers, and medium and large-sized computers are mostly 12-bit binary numbers.
A/D and D/A have single channel and multiple channels. Multiple input and output relays are occupied.
With A/D and D/A units, the remaining processing is digital, which is not difficult for PLCs with information processing capabilities. Medium and large PLCs have stronger processing capabilities, not only can add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers, but can also perform square extraction, interpolation, and floating point operations. Some also have PID instructions, which can perform proportional, differential, and integral operations on the deviation system, and then generate the corresponding output. It can almost do what the computer can do.
In this way, it is completely possible to realize analog control with PLC. The unit value of the control can be as small as one-212th of the measurement range value, and most of them are also sufficient
PLC carries on the analog quantity control, there is the unit that A/D, D/A combine together, and can realize the control with PID or fuzzy control algorithm, can obtain the very high control quality.
The advantage of using PLC for analog quantity control is that while carrying out analog quantity control, the switch quantity can also be controlled. This advantage is not available in other controllers, or the realization of control is not as convenient as PLC.
Of course, if the system is purely analog, the use of PLC may not as good as the use of regulators in terms of performance and price ratio. This should also be seen.
