1. CPU

The central processing unit (CPU) is the control center of programmable controllers, and commonly used CPU microprocessors include general-purpose microprocessors, microcontrollers, and single-chip computers. CPUs are generally composed of control circuits, arithmetic units, and registers, which are encapsulated in an integrated chip and connected to storage units and input/output interface circuits through address buses, data buses, and control buses. The function of the CPU is to:

1) Receive and store user programs and data input from programming tools such as computers or programmers according to the functions assigned by the PLC system program

2) By checking the program, the power supply, memory, input/output interface circuit status can be checked on its own, and syntax errors in user programs can be diagnosed

3) When the PLC is put into operation, it works under the control of the system monitoring program. By scanning, the status of the external input signal is written into the input image register. After the PLC enters the running state, it reads user instructions from the memory one by one, performs data transmission, logical operations, and arithmetic operations according to the specified tasks of the instructions, and then sends the results to the output image register or data register. After completing the user program execution, transfer the output status of the I/O image register or the data in the output register to the corresponding output device.
