When choosing a PLC model, the following points are mainly considered:

1 Function selection. For small PLCs, I/O expansion modules, A/D and D/A modules, and instruction functions (such as interrupts, PID, etc.) are mainly considered.

2 Determine the number of I/O points. Count the number of I/O points of the switching quantity and analog quantity of the controlled system, and consider future expansion (generally add 10% to 20% of the spare quantity), so as to select the number of I/O points and output specifications of the PLC.

3 Estimation of memory. The memory capacity required by the user program is mainly related to factors such as the number of I/O points, control requirements, and program structure length of the system. Generally, it can be estimated as follows: storage capacity = number of digital input points × 10 + number of digital output points × 8 + number of analog channels × 100 + number of timers/counters × 2 + number of communication interfaces × 300 + spare capacity.

(3) Allocate I/O points. Assign PLC input/output points, write input/output distribution tables or draw input/output terminal wiring diagrams, then you can carry out PLC program design, and at the same time carry out control cabinet or console design and on-site construction.

(4) Program design. For more complex control systems, draw a control flow chart or a functional flow chart according to the production process requirements, and then design a ladder diagram, and then write a statement list program list based on the ladder diagram, and perform simulation debugging and modification on the program until the control requirements are met. until.

(5) Design and on-site construction of the control cabinet or console. Design the electrical layout and installation wiring diagrams of the control cabinet and console; design the electrical interlock diagrams of each part of the control system; perform on-site wiring according to the drawings and check.

(6) The overall debugging of the application system. If the control system consists of several parts, you should first perform partial debugging, and then perform overall debugging; if there are many steps in the control program, you can perform segmented debugging first, and then connect the total adjustment.

(7) Preparation of technical documents. Technical documents shall include: electrical drawings such as external wiring diagrams of programmable controllers, electrical layout diagrams, electrical components list, sequence function diagrams, annotated ladder diagrams and instructions.
